Gary is their natural successor and his celebrated paintings have brought this time honoured genre back to the forefront of the public mind. Much of Gary’s work has grown out of great love and respect for the animal kingdom in its many guises and he loves to go out walking and observing life in his beautiful local Irish landscape. With him a painting does not begin and end on a canvas in his studio, but originates in extensive sketching and photographing of the subject. He then uses a combination of oils, pastels and other drawing materials to create something vibrant and spontaneous in response to the material he has built up.
