“The opportunity to influence how people engage with the world and to communicate with them in this way, is a truly amazing experience for me as an artist.” Anna’s creative reconstructions of the landscape capture the beauty and dynamism of stunning harbour locations and cityscapes bathed by vivid sunsets. It is the grouping of colours in a scene that initially attracts her and this visual harmony compels her to create her own image in response. Each vibrant piece portrays the energy and emotion of the environment with what the artist describes as “exploding skies” which release a whole spectrum of radiant and dramatic colour. Anna is a spontaneous and energetic painter and her modus operandi impacts on the lively nature of her finished work. She paints intuitively, using an array of tools including brushes, sponges, palette knives and even her hands, letting her instinct take over. She has become increasingly dedicated to oils as her main medium, spending a great deal of time learning how they behave and can be manipulated although she does mix her media to a degree to add texture to some of her works. Anna’s stunning new collection draws on two very different sides of her personality – stylish city dweller and romantic beach lover. She has recently been the subject of a beautiful short film which places her in each of these settings, and shows how and where her work originates.
