Dynamic Hungarian artist Csilla Orban has recently returned from a beautiful three week cruise around some of Europe’s most inspirational port cities. Back in her studio, Csilla has been working on a new collection that transports the viewer on a journey to some of the most famous cities in the world, fromRome to Barcelona. The trip introduced her to some breathtaking places, with amazing architecture and, she says, some lovely people. Whilst onboard, she found the uninterrupted view of the ocean gave her a whole new take on how the sky, the light, the sunsets and reflections can change a scene, and this made her look at the cities she paints with new eyes. Csilla’s cityscapes occupy a unique position on the current art market. Although they depict specific and often recognisable locations, their particular brilliance lies in the creation of atmosphere rather than the accuracy of detail. By merging colours and blurring the reflected light in the rain-slicked streets, she conveys the fast-moving essence of her chosen subject in her own distinctive way. She has participated in many international exhibitions, and in 2004 she received the ‘Genius Talent Prize’ in Budapest at the exhibition celebrating the entry of Hungary into the European Union.
