Fine Art Magazine July 2018
15 years later, with a wonderful summer of football behind us, we are delighted to present a series of Mackenzie’s atmospheric images of the beautiful game. Although he says he is not fanatical, he does love many aspects of the game, most of all the fact that it is all about the team. His personal philosophy is that life is like a game, and we are all born into a team. It is therefore our responsibility to work together and help the other team members to achieve their own goals as well as achieving your own. His football images and the accompanying poetry convey this message with conviction, passion and immense charm. The gift they chose was a Mackenzie Thorpe lithograph, When Grandad was a Lad – an irresistible piece of amusing nostalgia that says everything about the artist’s relationship with football and is immensely relatable for thousands of fans.
