FABIAN PEREZ Bold and intense, these images offer us an insight into the hidden depths of their subjects; the charismatic man and seductive woman seem to be part of a wider narrative, one which embraces mystery, eroticism and drama. Despite the simplicity of the composition there is, as always, a hint of movement in the carefully relaxed poses. This implied animation encourages us to find our own interpretation of the before and the after, creating our own story that synchronises with the artist’s own snapshot of time. In this case though, the titles tell us what has gone before, and offer both of them and us a possible future… While sensuality and intensity are key, there is also a sophistication and intelligence to his shadowy figures which implies something beyond the purely visual.
