“less detail and more impact.” Lynne Timmington’s powerfully expressive contemporary oil paintings draw their inspiration from the natural world, specifically the vastness of the oceans and skies, the forces of nature, and the effects of light on all of these elements. Over a 30 year career Lynne has become one of Britain’s most respected land and seascape painters, and her subtle shades and distinctive textures have led to a highly recognisable style which has won her both critical and popular acclaim. Her work has been exhibited all over the country in galleries and at exhibitions including a one-woman show at The Barbican, The Festival Hall and The West of England Art Academy. Her style and subject matter have evolved over the years, shifting alongside her life experiences and changing artistic interests, but she has resolved never to be swayed by trends or fashions but to remain true to her own creative journey, wherever it may lead. So far it has led her on an extensive voyage of artistic discovery: the Maldives inspired a series of exotic seascapes, the Balearic and Greek Islands provided some extraordinary sunlit images, and in stark contrast, a visit to Oslo offered an atmospheric skyline heavy with mist and diffused light. At present Lynne is absorbed with images that tend towards the minimal and finds herself leaning towards a more abstract style on occasion; she enjoys expressing herself with what she describes as JETTE, Original Painting, 36” x 24” HORDALAND, Original Painting, 39” x 16” 31 LYNNE TIMMINGTON ARTIST FEATURE
